YEG Passport Club is proud of Eastglen High School, now the newest Interact club in District 5370, thanks to the outstanding leadership of student Jana Hamdalla!

Eastglen High School is now the newest Interact club in District 5370, thanks to the outstanding leadership of student Jana Hamdalla, YEG Passport Club Youth Services Director Mark Lindsay, Faculty Advisor Ms. Engstrom, and District Interact Chair Abinash Saravan. Thirty students have already joined—sparked by Jana’s move from Jasper Place (where she was an Interact member) to Eastglen, where she discovered there was no club and decided to start one herself.

The group has hit the ground running with projects like planting trees, raising funds for Polio through “Pizza for Polio,” helping seniors at a local lodge, and volunteering at the Food Bank. They look forward to making a lasting impact in Edmonton and collaborating with other clubs.

Their Charter celebration took place on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, with DGN Jeanette Bancarz representing the District. YEG Passport Rotary Club President (sponsor) Marilyn Mucha presented the official RI Certificate, and Mark Lindsay delivered an uplifting speech about the ripple effect of the club’s service and the difference they are making in our world. A few students have already shown interest in attending RYLA and possibly the District Conference.

Congratulations to Jana and all club members. 🎉 🥳 👏🏽 🎊

We can’t wait to see what they accomplish next—together in service and fellowship.
